How to wake a muscle up

Do you have any advice on how to "wake a muscle up" so that it actually can start to gain some mass? I find it extremely difficult to target my VMOs, even with PT exercises, and the imbalance has caused knee pain

Is drinking caffeine on an empty stomach a no no? What about training fasted?

SSRIs and Weight Gain

I just received my first bottle of Zoloft for mild anxiety and depression. My healthcare provider and the internet warn of the side effects of possible weight gain. Even though logically I know you can only gain weight from consuming excess calories, I am still afraid to start taking them and have the scale magically start to go up! What do you think about weight gain as a medication "side effect"? Is there any other mechanism that accounts for people gaining weight on SSRIs or other meds if not simply eating too much and moving less?
